Position Summary

A full time STEAM/Innovation Educator plays a key role as part of our Lower and Middle School (grades 1-8) Innovation team, which is centered on project-based learning and the Design Thinking model. This highly collaborative role involves teaching multiple sections of classes in both Innovation Labs. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about AI as it relates to education and work as a member of the Innovation team.

Objectives

-Design and deliver engaging instruction focused on authentic experiences that include computer science, coding, digital fabrication from design to product, digital literacy, storytelling, and robotics.

-Collaborate in advancing and refining a contemporary STEAM curriculum.

-Integrate educational technology and innovation throughout the school’s curriculum.

-Support faculty in incorporating STEAM tools into their instruction across disciplines.

Responsibilities

-Teach existing curriculum and develop new curriculum related to STEAM learning, including computer science, coding, AI, digital fabrication, digital literacy, electronics, and robotics.

-Guide students through the Design Thinking process, the use of age-appropriate and productive AI tools, coding activities, robotics, and engineering challenges.

-Teach creative problem-solving through digital and non-digital processes.

-Foster a growth mindset and encourage risk-taking and iteration in the learning process.

-Contribute to the school’s ongoing discussions about interdisciplinary and experiential learning, innovative assessment practices, and best practices in the use of technology in STEAM education.

-Help identify school educational technology needs, barriers, and weaknesses; develop, organize, and implement solutions for students, teachers, staff and administrators.

-Collaborate with faculty across departments to integrate technology skills throughout the academic program.

-Assist with technology-related programming and activities.

-Create a classroom culture that supports innovation, teamwork, and inclusiveness.

-Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the school, including attending meetings, covering assigned duties, and participating in school-related activities.

-Actively participate in professional development and work collaboratively with colleagues and instructional leaders to improve instructional practices and student learning.

Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred in a technology or science related field.

-Experience with computer science, coding, STEAM, design thinking, and makerspace education and/or experienced as an elementary level science educator.

-Experience as a student-centered educator or in a project-based learning environment that integrates technology and supports differentiated instruction.

-Able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in varied situations.

-A collaborative and supportive team member.

-Demonstrates creativity and effective problem-solving skills.

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 depending on experience and education.
